Camp Walter Scott--"A Great Place to Be!"

Celebrating our 46th year of Christian Camping in 2008

Our mascot Walter

Camp Walter Scott is a year-round retreat facility.  Christian Church in Illinois and Wisconsin sponsored youth camps run seven to eight weeks during the summer months.  The summer camping season is bracketed by Memorial Day and Labor Day Family Camps, which are minimally structured for relaxation, recreation, fellowship and worship.

Throughout the rest of the year Camp Walter Scott is available for youth and adult retreats during weekdays and weekends.

The camp is a half-mile square property being divided by a 23 acre man-made lake, which provides fishing, boating and swimming as a state-licensed sand beach.

There are two beautiful lakeside outdoor chapels, one on each side of the lake.

Ten summer shelters are located in the woods provide sleeping quarters for the summer camps.

Two log cabins, with bathroom facilities and the southside showerhouse as well as the dining hall/activity center are winterized.

Our newly renovated retreat house has added much needed winterized sleeping space.  This building has 4 sleeping rooms and a host apartment, each with bathroom facilities.

A mobile home on the property can also be used for program and sleeping space if needed.  There are bathroom and kitchen facilities available in this space.

Groups with more persons than the amount of bed space can also sleep people in the upper and lower levels of the dining hall.

All denominations are welcome to use the facility.  Several individuals, families, youth and adult groups come to do volunteer labor on the grounds.

Camp Walter Scott is a wonderful place for spiritual retreat and renewal for groups of all ages.  Many groups who use the facility consider the camp to be "holy ground".

Camp Walter Scott hosts 2,500 to 3,000 persons every year
