Reflection: Water Being Lake Being Ice

By February 4, 2026Creation Care

“Ice is a rarity in the chemical world, a solid who is less dense than the liquid. If the water that is being a lake behaved like aluminum, or steel, or rock, the frozen water would sink to the bottom constantly, piling up until the entire lake was frozen solid. Life would not be possible. You cannot have fish that survive the winter without water that continues to be a lake. If not for this compassionate act of all water that is being a lake, or river, or pond, or ocean… we would not exist. This is an invitation to shared love – one that the rest of our Creation kin have gladly accepted – while those of us who are governed by the Doctrine of Discovery often ignore in favor of utility which pollutes our neighbors who are *being* bodies of water.” Today, you are invited to live in a reflection of the compassion God has made possible in the water being lakes, in Christ, and in you.
