Ben
I am Ben Kersey, or usually Benji, as Walter Scott has known me. I am a Youth and Family Director in Jacksonville, Il. I love the outdoors, reading, and sipping coffee. I especially enjoy the combination of the three. I direct camp, specifically our You & Me Camp, so I can help our newest campers feel safe, and enjoy their time, at Walter Scott. I have spent nearly 30 weeks of my life at Walter Scott in different roles. Once when I was in 4th grade, I experienced my first holy spirit moment. I was walking alone to the hogan, to grab my bible, and I happened to look up, and to this day, the trees had made a cross-like hole in their shared canopy. I haven’t been able to find the right angle since, and am convinced it was God’s way of telling me I was meant to be there. This summer, I’m looking forward to introducing more first time campers to the peace you can find, and the beauty of God’s creation, as well as the camp that I know and love.

Howdy! My name is Libby West and I will be co-directing You and Me and JYF camps this year.
I came to Walter Scott as a new counselor 39 years ago!! I met my husband that week! My (now adult) children came as campers and my grandchildren are continuing that wonderful legacy! Young people have always had my heart, as a school recess monitor to being Director of Youth and Family Ministries at a local church! I have so many wonderful memories! One time I brought 50 foot solar balloons and the turkey vultures tried to dive bomb them! 😂 Having the children of former campers come to camp has been a special blessing. To have been able to watch kids really connect to Jesus is beyond glorious! So come to You and Me camp or JYF this year!! Ben Kersey, Gwen Peebles and I can’t wait to see you!!
