Karen
Hi! I am Karen Fezler, one of the directors for Beginners camp. I have been a camper, counselor, and director at Walter Scott over the years, starting when I was 9 years old. I have taught kindergarten for 13 years and love that I get the opportunity to be at camp each summer. I can’t wait to share camp and God’s love with our youngest group of campers! I direct camp with the hope to spark a love of God and camp to continue for the kids for years to come. I have so many great camp memories over the years; most recently, I laugh every time I think of the owl singing us to sleep right at lights out. Ha! I am looking forward to building new friendships and memories this summer. Can’t wait!
Bethany
My name is Bethany Miller. I have been teaching in early childhood for 14 years now, and this will be my 20th (I think) year attending Camp Walter Scott. I direct camp because I love working with young children, and witnessing them making those young connections with God. I stumbled into the directing roll here at camp when a friend asked me to go-direct with them, and it is one of the most wonderful parts of my summer. I would never be able to pick just one camp memory to talk about simply because there are so many that bring me joy. Some that I always look back with joy on are the camp fire stories told by Jay Johnson. When he was telling a story you could hear a pin drop because everyone was so enthralled with the adventures he would take us on with his words. What I look forward to most is taking my own child to camp for the first time this year. She has been looking forward to joining her friends and I at camp since last summer.
