This past weekend we participated in the IL EPA’s hazardous household waste drop-off day. This is a responsible way to get rid of hazardous chemicals and Care Gently for God’s Creation. Taking place the second Saturday of each month at EPA drop off sites around the state, they accept chemicals such as pesticides, herbicides, oil based paints, cleaning solvents, antifreeze, used motor oil or old gasoline, and many others. Anyone in the state of Illinois can participate and they encourage you to bring things for your friends, neighbors, and family members as well! We took an entire trunk full and backseat full of these expired or no longer needed chemicals from Walter Scott. Today, consider how you dispose of the chemicals you no longer need and if this is an opportunity to care gently for God’s Creation in this way.
