Reflection:

The sunset casts its rays upon our camp sign leaving traces of its presence and absence behind. If we were small like a moth or aphid or even bacteria, we would only know the realm of that which currently was cast upon us – be it shadow or light. We would not know that given just a few more minutes, the angle of the sun sinking would bring a completely different reality upon our being. Like our minuscule Creation-relatives, in our world, it is easy to see only the light or the shadow when it is the one currently being cast on us. At times it can feel like the shadow is all encompassing and inescapable. However, darkness does not last forever, the sun will follow its journey and we shall know its warmth once again. We are a people of resurrection, of hope at the empty tomb. The sun will shine yet again, whether in a few minutes from its setting poking through or tomorrow as it rises from a direction we can scarcely imagine in the final hours of evening.
